I’ve carried the same knife for probably 15 years or more. I’ve replaced it multiple times, but always the same knife. You might surprised to hear what it is. In my opinion, it’s one of the best work horse pocket knives that’s ever been created. I’ve done everything from cut lengths of rope down to opening the endless stream of Amazon packages that seem to never stop showing up at my door. A lot of that is my own fault.
My pocket work horse is a Kershaw Cryo 2 or it’s baby brother, the Cryo Mini. I don’t even know if Kershaw makes the Cryo series of pocket bangers anymore. A while back I started looking at my old pocket knife and thinking to myself… I wonder what knife is the edc king these days?
You have your crowd that will say Benchmade is the greatest knife maker in the history of ever. Though Benchmade makes a great knife. If I’m buying a pocket work horse that costs north of $300. It better not only open packages, it better warm my truck up for me in the morning.
Here’s the thing, you don’t have to spend a ton of money on a good knife. You don’t have to break into the three figure price range to get a good knife. You can, and there’s nothing wrong with that, but you don’t have to. There are brands making knives these days that are incredible tools with blades made of good steel that holds an edge and isn’t a nightmare to sharpen when it’s time to refine that edge one more time.
That’s what we’re going to do here. We’re going to dive into the world of knives and every other EDC item you might have in your pocket as you read this, and some that won’t fit in your pocket but you don’t leave home without.
From budget bangers to blades you spydie flick open like the knife connoisseur that you are and your buddy says…
heh… you can’t hide money
We’ve all heard it. Hell.. we’ve likely all said it a time or 3.
We’re going to yap about them all. I’ll even try to find you a deal or 2 on whatever we’re talking about. I’m sure you noticed that disclosure at the top. Might as well be up front. Time is money and I don’t like to spend mine for free but make no mistake, my opinions are my own. If I recommend a knife or anything else, it’s because I believe in it and the company that makes it. If I don’t, I’ll tell you that too.. probably with more vigor.
I hope you’ll come along for the ride… this is only the first page in The Edge Report.
